Conversation Hearts

Conversation Heart Nail Art

Growing up, conversation hearts were the staple candy that always got passed out in class on Valentine's Day.  I'm more of a chocolate girl myself, but in general I love all candy (except black licorice).  So, the Valentine holiday would not be complete without some conversation heart nails.

Bundle Monster has this cute stamp design with a ton of conversation hearts.  Originally, I was going to do a reverse stamp of that for the ring finger, so the words on the hearts would be red like on the actual candy.  But the polish colors I used weren't opaque enough, so the red just looked like giant blotches, and I had to scratch that idea.  Instead I just used a dotting tool to create mini hearts, but if you have good pastel stamping polish, I highly recommend using the plate design (BM-H16).

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
  • Revlon - Bubbly
  • Ulta - Sun-Sational
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Green With Envy
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Breezy Blue
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Lacey Lilac
  • Wet n Wild - Red Red
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-H16 (single conversation heart)
  • Rubber stamper
  • Dotting tool
  • Makeup sponge

This was my first attempt at a rainbow gradient.  It was a little harder to go over more than once than a two color gradient, but overall I like how it turned out.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a white base color

  2. Use a wet makeup sponge to add a rainbow gradient to the index, pinky, and thumb.  I did it at a slight angle so the rainbow would be diagonal across the nail.

  3. Use the reverse stamping method to make a decal of the conversation heart for the middle finger.  Stamp in pink, then fill in the empty space with red polish.
  4. Use a dotting tool (or a nail art brush) to paint mini hearts in all colors on the ring finger.
