Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman Nail Art

Princess Diana of Themyscira...aka, Wonder Woman.  Today's look uses intricate painting with acrylic paints, mixed with some basic stamping.

Wonder Woman Playing Cards
Aside from Batman and Superman, I'm more of a Marvel fan over DC.  But I saw these Wonder Woman playing cards at World Market, and I was inspired.  I ended up painting the image that is second from the left, although I added hair to the side of her face since my nail is too short to fit the hair above her crown.  I used stamped stars for the other nails because as you can see in the photo above, that is how the back of the playing cards looks.

There are a lot of great pictures on these cards.  I may need to do a Wonder Woman drawing one day.  There are also Captain America and Batman playing cards as well.

Nail Polish
 Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Rapid Red
  • Sinful Colors - Rich in Heart
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Acrylic paint - yellow, black, blue, red, white, peach, and brown
  • Nail art brush
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BH-H25 (stars)
  • Rubber stamper

This isn't a super detailed tutorial since I didn't take progress pics of my Wonder Woman nail.  I'll try to describe the process, but like most freehand painting, it mainly requires skill.  I'm a fairly good comic artist, so I can translate that into nail painting here.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a red base color.

  2. Use acrylic paint and a super fine nail art brush to paint Wonder Woman on the ring finger.  Start with the flesh color of her face (mix peach with a little brown).  Then use black to outline her face, color in her hair, and paint the fine facial details (noes, eye, eyebrow, lips), and outline her crown.  Paint her lips red, the crown yellow, eye blue, and add blue hair to the black.  Add highlights and shadows to her face with yellow (highlight), and a darker flesh tone (shadow).  Also add some white highlights to the crown.

  3. Use Rich in Heart to stamp the stars (BM-H25) across the tip of each nail.

  4. Paint the Wonder Woman symbol on the middle finger using yellow and black acrylic paint.

Here are a couple more shots.  I haven't done any elaborate painting in a while, so I must take some time to admire these nails while I have them.

    1. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I haven't had time to draw in a while, so it was nice to get to "draw" on my nails.
