Mischief Managed

Mischief Managed Nails

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. J With the new Harry Potter movie coming out next month, they’ve been playing a lot of the other movies on TV lately. Even though I own all the movies, and I could watch them commercial-free, I still always watch whenever I see it playing.

The new Halloween plates from Bundle Monster have a cool plate with a bunch of creepy/Halloween saying on it. One was the Marauder’s Map command, and a brilliant idea formed. I received this thermal gel polish from Madam Glam called, Milky Guilty. It transforms from a light neutral brown when it is warm, to a dark brown when it is cold. Part of the fun of the Marauder’s Map is that the text disappears, so I wanted to create the same effect with the thermal polish. By stamping and painting the designs in a dark brown, the images “disappear” in the cold. The light brown version of the polish is a little sheer, but I got full coverage with three coats. Like most gels, this mani was chip-free until I was ready to change it up. Use coupon code LAWYERED to get 30% off at Madam Glam.

Polish Used:
  • Madam Glam Color Change Gel - Milky Guilty
  • O.P.I. - Love is Hot and Coal
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-S243 (Harry Potter quote)
  • hēhē  stamping plate - 025 (Hogwarts crest)
  • Rubber stamper
  • Nail art brush
  • LED/UV light

If you are new to stamping, try stamping over gel polish. If you mess up, you can easily swipe it off with some polish remover. Stamping over gel polish also lets you change the design without having to repaint the base color.

To create this look:
  1. Apply the base color using Milky Guilty, and apply a gel top coat and cure.
  2. Use a dark brown polish to stamp and paint the designs on each nail. Stamp the Hogwarts crest on the middle finger, and the Marauder’s Map command on the ring finger. Use a nail art brush to paint footprints on all the other nails.
  3. Add another layer of top coat.
Here are a couple shots showing the thermal effect.

  2. OMG. This is so wonderful. I want to do the same design. I've done Almond nails and I am sure that it would be looking nice on my new shape.
