Canine Compassion

Dog Nail Art

#adoptdontshop. There are so many cute babies at the shelter looking for their furever home.

Enlightened is a mauvy-purple that Nail & Bone did for The Animal Project Foundation. The Animal Project Foundation is dedicated to providing funding to animal rescue organizations to assist with emergency services, medical costs, adopting high risk animals, and providing neutering services. A few days ago, my family took in a new foster from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento. He is a nine-month-old boxer mix with severe hip dysplasia. He'll be undergoing double hip surgery, and then he'll be up for adoption. But it is because of great organizations like The Animal Project Foundation and Bradshaw Animal Shelter that he is getting a second chance.

Dog Nail Art

I painted this mani based on the logo for Nail & Bone polish, but my foster puppy, Xander, has similar markings. To create this look:
  1. Apply the base color with Enlightened.
    Mauve Nail Polish
  2. Use acrylic paint for the dog head on the middle finger.
    • Paint the whole head in black.
    • Used white paint to add the eyes and snout markings.
    • Use black paint again to add hearts in each eye, and the nose and mouth.

  3. Paint a "woof" talk bubble on the ring finger.
    • Use black paint to paint the outline of the talk bubble.
    • Fill in the bubble with white paint.
    • Add "WOOF" in black inside the bubble.

  4. Paint white bones on the base of the rest of the nails.
