Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum Plaid

Plaid Nails

Mixing media is the use of a variety of media in a work of art. The same can be done with nail art.

This design used Yank My Gold Chain to add some gold glitter over a couple of nails. Yank My Gold Chain is the only glitter polish in the Disco Nights, Festive Lights Holiday 2019 collection by Artistic Nail Design, but it sure is festive!

Polish Used:
  • Artistic Colour Gloss - Yank My Gold Chain (gold glitter)
  • Artistic Colour Gloss - This Girl Sleighs (gold shimmer)
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Black To Black
  • NCLA - These Grades Are Just A Jumping Off Point
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Jamberry nail wrap - Friday Flannel
  • Jamberry nail wrap - Metallic Gold Stripe
  • Mini heater/hair dryer
  • Nail tape
  • Gold stud
  • UV/LED lamp
  • Gold nail foil

Although this mani may look complex, it is quite simple to create using nail wraps and nail tape.

Right Hand:
Plaid Nails
  • Thumb - Paint a green base color and apply a layer of gold glitter polish.
  • Index and Middle - Apply Friday Flannel nail wraps. Then apply a layer of top coat, and add pieces of gold foil while the top coat is still wet. Seal on with another layer of top coat.
  • Ring - Paint a black base color. Apply a strip of Friday Flannel across the tip, and a piece of Metallic Gold Stripe across the middle of the nail.
  • Pinky - Paint with gold shimmer polish.

Left Hand:
Plaid Nails

  • Index - Paint a green base color and apply a layer of gold glitter polish.
  • Middle - Apply Friday Flannel, and add a gold stud to the base of the nail.
  • Ring - Paint a black base color. Add a piece of Friday Flannel across the middle of the nail, and add a piece of Metallic Gold Stripe on top (closest to the tip).
  • Pinky - Apply Friday Flannel. Apply nail tape in parallel diagonal lines, then paint the tip and line with black and remove the tape.
