Abstract layering is an easy way for anyone to create a cool, artsy mani.
This mani uses all but one of the colors from the Opulent Obsession Winter 2019 collection by Artistic Nail Design. I also used the Correction Gel as the base, which I think is going to become a must for any negative space designs. The Correction Gel really does even out and smooth all the nail imperfections. The clear gel is nice to see the natural nail color, but I'm interested to see how the Pink Concealer and the Translucent Pink Correction Gel look. Stay tuned. :)
Polish Used:
- Artistic Correction Gel
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Treasure Beyond Measure (periwinkle creme)
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Love To Be Lavish (rose creme)
- Artistic Colour Gloss - The Original (soft nude creme)
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Excess Is Success (purple brown shimmer)
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Over The Top (iridescent gold overlay)
- Gel top coat
Other Supplies:
- LED/UV lamp
- Gold star studs
If you're working with gels, you have a couple of options for how you want to handle the layering. You can cure between every color application, or just layer everything and cure once at the end. The latter blends the colors a little, while the former has more distinct separation of the colors. To create this look:
- Apply the Correction Gel as the base coat and cure.
- Cover 2/3 of the nail with layers of nude, rose, periwinkle, and purple brown shimmer; one stroke of each color in various orders on each nail.
- Apply Over The Top, the iridescent gold overlay polish, over the colored portion of the nail, leaving the negative space glitter free.
- Optional: Add gold stars for a little something extra.
This looks pretty cool :-D
