Who else has upped their ice cream consumption during quarantine? It is hard not to indulge when there are so few pleasures to enjoy right now. So eat that ice cream guilt-free...there are too many other things to stress about.
On a happier note, I was lucky enough to be gifted the Cool As It Gets Summer 2020 collection by Artistic Nail Design. This is a collection after my heart. Inspired by everything I love...summer, sweets, and ice cream treats...these polishes will help you beat those quarantine blues.
When I first saw that the collection had an ice cream inspiration, I knew I was going to do an ice cream drip mani with sprinkles. The teal and pink cremes pair nicely and look good enough to eat.
Polish Used:
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Bubblegum Is Poppin'
- Artistic Colour Gloss - Anything is Popsicle
- Gel base coat
- Gel matte top coat
- No-wipe gel top coat
Other Supplies:
- Builder gel
- UV/LED lamp
- Orange stick
- Multicolored caviar beads
- Nail art brush
Builder gel may seem daunting, but using it for a drip design is fairly easy since nothing has to be very precise. To create this look:
- Apply the base color with Bubblegum Is Poppin', curing in between layers.
- Apply a matte top coat and cure.
- Use builder gel and an orange stick to create drips on the tips of each nail. Scoop some of the gel on the pointy end of the stick, then start at the bottom of the drip and drag the gel to the tip. Keep repeating this for each droplet. Then fill in the rest of the tip. It is best to work one nail at a time, curing between each nail so you don't risk smudging anything.
- Use a nail art brush to paint Anything Is Popsicle over the drips, and cure.
- Use a nail art brush to paint no-wipe gel top coat over the drips and sprinkle on multicolored caviar beads and cure. More top coat can be applied over the beads if desired.
Amazing and love the technique :-D
