Hawaiian Hibiscus

Hibiscus Nails

I love hibiscus flowers.  Everywhere I move, I always buy a hibiscus plant for my apartment balcony.  They are so tropical and summery, I can't help but smile when I see them.

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Social Ladder
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Rapid Red
  • Sinful Colors - Rich In Heart
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Lightening
  • Ulta - Envy
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - I-rush Luck
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Nail art brush

This design uses only freehand painting, but the leaves allow for a lot of room for error.  They're natural, so they don't have to look perfect.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a sheer pink base color.

  2. Paint the hibiscus and the first set of leaves.  For the palm leaves, use a light green and paint the stem of the fern first.  Then add the leaves with longer ones at the base and getting shorter towards the tip.  For the hibiscus, paint five red petals and the stigma.  Use a darker red to add shading, and some yellow on the tip of the stigma.

  3. Paint some darker palm leaves on top of the lighter ones.
