Be A Mermaid

Always be yourself.  Unless you can be a mermaid.  Then always be a mermaid.

I received this shell paper from LadyQueen in exchange for an honest review. The description says "hard," and it means HARD.  The texture is very brittle, stiff, and not bendable at all.  In the pictures, it seems to conform to the nails, so I thought it was going to be just a really thick sticker.  Not so.  Not bad, but just not what I expected.  The shell paper is like hard plastic and breaks when you bend it.  On one hand, it looks like real shell that way, but on the other hand, it makes it hard to apply large pieces.  I'm not sure if you warm it, if that would help.  Other than that, the design does look like real shell with the iridescent and black striations, and I love the color (it also comes in 11 other colors).  Adding small accent pieces looks good, but I want to figure out how to apply large sections.

I left some negative space because the exposed natural nail matches the natural feel of the shell paper.  To create this look:

1. Apply the base colors - index, ring, and thumb in Neve.
   
2. Add shell paper to the index, middle, and pinky. The shell paper can be cut, and has an adhesive backing.  For the index, add a large section across half the nail; the edge along the tip can be filed.  Add a triangle to the middle, and a small rectangle to the pinky.
   
3. Used gold nail tape to accent the shell paper.  On the index, add a horizontal stripe on the edge of the shell paper.  For the middle, add tape along the edges of the triangle, and a horizontal piece across the top of the triangle.  On the pinky, add a stripe of tape down the center of the rectangle.
   
4. Glue a gold seashell stud on the top of the tringle nail, and add a mermaid to the ring finger.
