Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! Like any 80's kid, I grew up watching Beetlejuice.

My office does a Halloween costume contest, and this year's theme was 80s movies. I chose my costume based on movies I loved in the 80's, something that had an actual costume versus just 80's clothes, and something I could do fun nails. I'm happy to report that I won first place with my Beetlejuice costume :)

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • CQ - Golden Green
  • Sally Hansen Triple Shine - Kelp Out
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dri - Black to Black
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dri - Rapid Red
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-S241 (beetle)
  • Rubber stamper
  • nail tape
  • Green bow cabochon
  • Krazy Glue
  • Makeup sponge
  • Black round stud

If bow cabochons are not your thing, on my other hand I used some spikes, studs, and green caviar beads. To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors - thumb and index in white, middle and ring in black, and pinky in red.

  2. Add nail tape to the middle and ring fingers to create the stripes. Place the tape equal distance apart so that the space is as wide as the tape. Apply a coat of white polish and immediately remove the tape.

  3. Add a black round stud to the base of the pinky.

  4. For the index, use a makeup sponge to dab on Golden Green and Kelp Out. Repeat this on the thumb (I also added some black on the thumb). One dry, use black polish to stamp the beetle to the tip of the index finger.

  5. Add two black round studs to the base of the thumb.
  6. Glue a green bow cabochon to the base of the ring finger.
