Circle of Life

Circle of Life Nail Art

"Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba!"  If you've every wondered what that means, it translates to "Here comes a lion, Father."  I Googled.  "Circle of Life" is my favorite song in the Broadway version of The Lion King, so when I saw this stamping plate, I knew I had to do a "Circle of Life" scene.  This is yet another unofficial Disney mani.  Maybe I should start a second series.

Safari Stamping Plate
I received this safari stamping plate from Born Pretty Store in exchange for an honest review.  I LOVE IT!!!!  The full nail designs are pretty close to the line of safari animals, so I applied a piece of tape above the design so I wouldn't get the other stamped designs on the stamper.  Other than that issue, I love everything else about the plate.  The designs are cute, they stamp well, and there are a lot of them crammed on this plate so you get a real bang for your buck.

Nail Polish
Nail Polish:
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dri - Lightening
  • Julep - Sydney
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Black Noir
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Born Pretty Store stamping plate - BP-16 (safari)
  • Rubber stamper
  • Makeup sponge
  • Nail art brush

I meant to stamp the lion part of the design over the sun, but I messed up and stamped it on the wrong finger.  It still looks good, but I wanted the lion to be the focus since it is a Lion King themed mani.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a yellow base color.

  2. Use a wet makeup sponge to create a sunset gradient using Lightening and Sydney.

  3. On the middle finger, use a nail art brush and Lightening to paint a sun.  It should look ripply from heat.
  4. Use black stamping polish to stamp the line of safari animals on each nail.  I picked a random portion for each nail, but you can stamp it in order as is.  To prevent picking up the images above the line of safari animals, I applied a strip of tape over the other designs.  Only put tape above the design, and scrap the polish off downwards (perpendicular to the tape), otherwise the tape will prevent you from removing all the excess polish.
