Fire Engine Fab

Fire Engine Fab Nail Art

This look is inspired by a design by @jini_unistella, but I changed it up a little using different colors and different studs.  This past weekend I went to my friend's bachelorette party, which had a fireman theme since the bride-to-be is marrying a fireman.  We all wore black with red accents, so I did red nails of course.  Yesterday's post is what my other hand looked like.

The geometric shapes with the black and gold details reminded me of a fire engine, so I went with it.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild - Red Red
  • Wet n Wild - Black Crème
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Liquid Gold
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Black nail striping tape
  • Nail art brush
  • Various gold studs and caviar beads
  • Gold metal chain
  • Nail glue

If red is too bright for you, you can use any color scheme.  Geometric patterns look great in all colors.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a red base color.

  2. Thumb:
    • Use striping tape to section off the base of the nail, then paint in with black polish, and remove tape.
    • Add a large gold stud on the red/black border, and a smaller stud on the red side.

  3. Index:
    • Use striping tape to section off a chevron that points towards the tip, and paint with gold using a nail art brush.  Remove tape.
    • Use the black striping tape to create a reverse chevron on top of the gold one.
    • Add a gold triangle stud that points towards the black chevron's point, and add a gold caviar bead opposite the stud's point.

  4. Middle:
    • Use black striping tape to create a diamond in the center of the nail.
    • Add two vertical gold studs in the center, and four caviar beads at the points of the diamond.
    • Glue some gold chain to the side of the nail (see picture of finished mani).  I added the gold chain since I made the diamond off center, but it really added to the look and I highly suggest it.

  5. Ring:
    • Use striping tape to section off a vertical portion on the side of the nail and paint it black, removing the tape when finished.
    • Once dry, use striping tape to section off a triangle in the black area, paint it in gold, and remove the tape when finished.
    • Add a large and small gold stud horizontally across the nail.

  6. Pinky:
    • Create a gold chevron in the same manner as on the index finger.
    • Add a horizontal stripe of black tape.
    • Add a gold stud to the point of the gold chevron.
