For an oldie but goodie, I recreated my Maleficent nails from 2014.
Better brushes, and more practiced skills, helped improve the finer details a little bit from my first try.
Polish Used:
- Artistic Colour Revolution - Shaded Not Jaded
- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Black to Black
- Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat - Ink Splatter
- Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
- Nail art brush
- Acrylic paints - green, purple, blue, red, and black
Acrylic paints are the preferred choice for detailed character work. It is easier to control, and easier to fix mistakes with a little water. To create this look:
- Apply the base colors - thumb and pinky in Shaded Not Jaded, the rest in black.
- Add black crackle polish to the thumb and pinky.
- Apply a layer of black polish to the middle finger, and dab some green on the tip. While wet, use a nail art brush or pin to drag the green polish in a fire-like pattern.
- Use acrylic paint to paint Maleficent's face on the ring finger, and her dragon form on the index finger.
