Candyland

Candyland Nail Art

Like most children, I grew up playing Candyland.  Who wouldn't love a game that revolves around candy?  It was always so exciting when you got one of the candy cards and got to skip ahead along the path.

I painted these nails for a Halloween costume contest at work (I know...I took a long time to get these posted).  The theme was board game characters, so I went as Princess Lolli from Candyland.  I really chose that character to do the Candyland nails :)  But I won first place!

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild - French White Creme
  • Maybelline Color Show - Pink Shock
  • Sally Hansen Triple Shine - Cruisin'
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Orange Peel
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Green With Envy
  • Kleancolor - Holo Green
  • Piggy Polish - Polar Sea Ice
  • Sinful Colors - Hottie
  • Wet n Wild Megalast - On a Trip
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Cupcake and lollipop charms
  • Nail tape
  • Krazy Glue

I haven't done the same nail art on both hands in a while, so there were lots of pictures to take for this design.  I just posted the pictorial for one hand, but you can see what the other hand looks like the in pic above and at the bottom.  To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors - paint the nails that will have the charms pink (ring on one hand, middle on the other), one thumb green, the other thumb blue, and the rest white.
  2. Use nail tape to section off squares to emulate the playing cards.  Some nails should have two squares, and some only one.  Try to mix the up the colors (i.e., add a blue square to the hand that has the green thumb as opposed to the blue thumb).

  3. Add a couple coats of glitter polish over the thumbs - green glitter and blue glitter polish on the corresponding hands.
  4. Create one candy cane nail on each hand.  Use nail tape to create stripes, paint with Pink Shock, then remove the tape.

  5. Glue the cupcake charm on one hand, and the lollipop on the other.  Since the lollipop is green, I put it on the hand with the blue thumb so there isn't too much green on one hand.
