Scales and Feathers

Scales and Feathers

Day 29 of the Bundle Monster Challenge is "Green/Blue."  I instantly thought of a peacock feather for the colors.  For an "animal-print" theme, I chose different nail plates featuring feathers, scales, or anything that looked like that.  I'm not a bird person in the sense that I'd want a bird as a pet, but I did build bird houses when I was little and I like feedings birds.  And I really like bird or feather prints or jewelry, so this was a fun mani to create.

Although the design may look difficult, as long as you can stamp, this is fairly easy.  The blue on the index finger looks really bright in the picture, but under indoor lighting it is more navy.

Nail polish

Polish Used:
  • Ulta - Moody Blues
  • Sinful Colors - See You Soon
  • NEW Revlon Chroma Chameleon Limited Edition Nail Enamel - Gold
  • Ulta - Envy
  • Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear - Green with Envy
  • Ulta - Demin Glitz
  • Orly Nail Lacquer - Luxe
Other Supplies:

I really love how the jewel tones look together with the golds.  To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors.  From index to pinky: Moody Blues, See You Soon, Envy, and Green with Envy. The thumb can't be seen in the picture, but I painted mine in Moody Blues and left it plain.

  2. Next, stamp each of the nails.  Use plate BM-410 with Luxe, to stamp the index finger, BM-215 with Gold by Revlon, BM-214 with Luxe on the ring finger, and BM-212 with Demim Glitz on the pinky.  The Revlon polish is an iridescent gold, which I thought would look nice as the snake scales.
