Love is Black and White

Love and Hearts Nail Art

It is the 28th day of the Bundle Monster Challenge, and the theme is "Love."  The Bundle Monster holiday nail plate set has so many cute designs for Valentine's Day.  I was sad I didn't get to try them all back in February, so this gave me a second chance to try some different ones.  I guess I could have done a love themed nail at any time, but I was busy participating in other challenges and never had time.

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - French White Crème
  • Wet n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - Red Red
  • Wet N Wild Shine Nail Color - Black Crème
Other Supplies:

I chose a black and white theme because love is black and white.  You either love someone or you don't.  At least I think so.  Otherwise you just like them.  So with that in mind, here's how to create this design:
  1. Apply a base coat.  I'm using white so all the accents can be in black.  Black also stamps better over white versus the other way around.
  2. Stamp the Love, Roses, and Heart Flowers with black polish.
  3. For the heart stamp, color the heart red as follows: (a) let the outline of the image dry on the stamper about 15 minutes, (b) use a dotting tool to dab red inside the heart outline and let it dry about 20 minutes, (c) cover the design with top coat and let it dry completely, (d) use tweezers to peel up the design, (e) when you flip it over, you'll see the design is colored in and you have sort of a decal.  You can trim some of the top coat around the design.  Coat the nail with top coat, and then press the decal onto the nail, using tweezers to smooth out any air bubbles.  If the decal extends beyond you nail, you can trim it more or use a brush with acetone to melt it a little (but don't melt too much).  Then seal with top coat.

  4. While the stamp is drying, you can use black polish and the dotting tool to decorate the index finger.  Space dots evenly and put a red crystal heart where one of the dots should be.
  5. Seal everything with top coat.
