Japan

Japanese Nail Art

I was lucky enough to get an early release set of the new Around The World plate collection from +Bundle Monster.  There are plates for France, Egypt, Japan, China, and India.  Since I'm Japanese, I decided to start with the Japan plate.

I decided to go with a black, red, and gold color scheme to emulate a kimono pattern.

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Rapid Red
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Liquid Gold
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Black Noir
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Black to Black
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-XL115 (Japan)
  • Rubber stamper

You can use a black stamping polish as the base color for the black nails.  I just used the Insta-Dri black polish because I like the quick dry feature.  You should however, use your gold stamping polish as the base color for the gold nail.  That way all the colors look the same.  To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors - thumb and pinky in black, index and ring in red, and middle in gold.

  2. Stamp each nail using BM-XL115.  Use gold polish to stamp the cherry blossom tree on the thumb.  Use gold polish to stamp the wavy pattern on the index.  Stamp the girl's face in black on the middle finger. Stamp the geometric star flower background on the ring finger with black polish.  And finally, stamp the paper cranes in gold on the pinky.

  3. Use black polish to stamp the koi onto the index finger.  For the ring finger, you need to create a decal.  First, stamp the chrysanthemum design in gold.  After a few minutes, paint the entire area black.  Once dry, paint the entire thing with a layer of top coat to create a decal.  When your decal is dry, cut a triangle to affix to the tip of the ring finger.  You can leave this off if it is too difficult, but I think it gives it a more kimono fabric feel.

I love this plate!  I may be biased, but there are a lot of great designs on this plate.  There are a bunch of maneki neko cats that I need to try next.
