Hakuna Matata

Hakuna Matata

"It means no worries for the rest of your days. It's our problem-free philosophy. Hakuna Matata!"  I told you there were more Disney Vinylmation creations in the works.  Disney fans will notice that my "grub" nails are actually patterned after Heimlich from A Bug's Life.

GHLQ10I had to spice up the mani with some embellishments, so I added a mix of rhinestones and studs to the ring finger. I received these green rhinestones from Born Pretty Store in exchange for an honest review.  The green was the perfect match to my polish colors, and is what inspired me to do Heimlich as the "grub."  Originally I was just going to paint different bugs on each nail, but I like how Pixar always hides characters from other Pixar movies within each other, so I kinda did that here.

Nail ArtThere are FOURTEEN different colors of these rhinestones!  I chose the blue/green ones.  Each set comes with ten pieces, and each rhinestones is 4mm in diameter.  There are 4 metal prongs that hold the rhinestone on the metal backing.  I really like the look, although the prongs do get caught on things, so be careful.  The rhinestones are a little high, as you can see in the profile picture of my nail.  If you are using it along, the height might be weird, but when grouping it with other embellishments, it is nice to have a variation of levels sometimes.  Overall, it is a good rhinestone to have in your collection.

I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out (I'd been having bad luck with some manis).  But it actually looks like a caterpillar, so I was happy with the result.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a base color using Green with Envy

  2. Create a gradient using Green with Envy, Green Light, and Re-teal Therapy.  Just the top of Heimlich's body is teal, so that part of the gradient should be small.

  3. Use a nail art brush and Green with Envy to paint an egg shape with a hole in the center on all the nails except the ring finger.

  4. Outline the egg shape with Fast Lane.
