Houndstooth Hearts

Houndstooth Heart Nail Art

I first did a houndstooth heart as one of the nails in my BRFS Fall Fashion - Part 1 design.  I've always wanted to do that look again, so here they are.  I did it in white and red this time for a more Valentine's vibe.

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
  • Wet n Wild - Red Red
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM19 (houndstooth)
  • Rubber stamper
  • Nail art brush

This design uses the same method of my Patchwork Hearts nails I posted a couple days ago.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a red base color.

  2. Use a nail art brush and white polish to paint large hearts on each nail.  Apply a layer of clear top coat to smooth it out.

  3. Use Red Red to stamp the houndstooth pattern (BM19) over each heart.

  1. Very cute! I never thought of stamping over the entire nail with the same colour that was used as a base.

    1. Thanks! Yes, it is definitely an easy way to make printed shapes on your nails, and so easy!

  2. This is super cute!

And DAAAAAAAANG, your free-handed hearts are SO great! I was sure you'd be showing off the large heart stamp you used for this one but nope! This one's great!

    1. Thanks! Freehand hearts are pretty easy once you get used to doing a lot of them. I even painted these with my left hand. Although, sometimes the stuff I paint with my non-dominant hand turns out better because I'm more careful.
