Mistress of Evil

Maleficent Nail Art

FINALLY getting back to my Disney series.  I combined two polishes for this look, so there will be one less mani than planned, but they both were for Maleficent and looked great together.

This is the last polish in the Wickedly Beautiful set by Beautifully Disney.  "Mistress of Evil" is the first polish pictured with the chunky grey glitter.

I also used the "Sea Escape" polish from the e.l.f. Disney Good vs. Evil set.  The polish name implies Little Mermaid to me, but Princess Aurora and Maleficent are on the cover, and the colors match them too, so I'm going with Sleeping Beauty looks for this whole set.  The other polish names for the "good" side don't even relate to Disney at all.

Expect a few more Sleeping Beauty themed nails in this series.  For the next Maleficent one, I might do the dragon or crow.  We'll see.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • e.l.f. Disney Good vs. Evil - Sea Escape
  • Beautifully Disney Wickedly Beautiful - Mistress of Evil
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Acrylic paints - white, black, red, blue, green, yellow
  • Nail art brush

This tutorial is pretty loose since there is no good way to do a pictorial for advanced painting, but I'll do my best to describe the steps.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a base color using Sea Escape.  It is a black polish with blue glitter which reminded me more of the new live action version of Maleficent, so that's what I went with.  Plus I've done a cartoon version of Maleficent already.

  2. Use Mistress of Evil to create a glitter gradient on the tips of all the nails except the middle finger.

  3. Use acrylic paint to paint the Angelina Jolie version of Maleficent on the middle finger.
    • Start with white and block out the shape of her face.
    • Make a light grey to shadow her cheekbones, nose, and eyes.  Go over the shadows with darker grey as needed to deepen the shadows.
    • Use black to outline her eyes and eyebrows.
    • Paint red lips and add a grey/red line to separate the lips.
    • Paint her irises with blue, then dot the centers with green and yellow, and add a black pupil.
