Black and White Botanicals

Black and White Flower Nail Art

I received another special request from a follower, for a simple black and white floral design, and nothing is simpler than flowers made with a dotting tool.  Don't have a dotting tool?  Don't worry.  A bobby pin works great too.

This mani is super fast and easy.  When layering dots, you don't have to wait for each layer to dry, so it is even faster.  This nail design works with any colors, and if embellishments are your thing, dressing up the flowers with a rhinestone, stud, or pearl center works great!

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - White On
  • Wet n Wild - Black Crème
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Dotting tools - large, medium, and small (or a bobby pin)

If you are using a bobby pin to make the dots, you can make the different size circles by using a lot of polish, or a little.  Also if you barely touch the nail, the dot will be smaller, versus pressing on a full dot.  To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors - index and middle in black, the rest in white.

  2. Using a large dotting tool, dot five petal flowers (so five dots in a circle), on each nail.  Make white flowers on the black nails and black flowers on the white nails.

  3. Still using the large dotting tool, dot the centers of the flowers with the alternate color.  So, dot the white flowers with black and vice versa.

  4. Using a medium dotting tool, dot the centers again with the alternate color.

  5. Use a small dotting tool to add some random dots around the flowers.

If covering the entire nail with flowers is too much for you, it also looks cute to have a single flower and dot on the corner of the nail.
