The "lights in the sky" are what eventually give Rapunzel the courage to leave her tower. Today's mani is pretty simple in terms of freehand painting. Initially, I was going to do the whole lantern scene with Rapunzel and Flint in the boat, but it didn't look good, so I scraped it and started over. Luckily, acrylic paint wipes off with some water. I went with a single lantern instead for the eighth look in my Disney series.
I like to have a range of difficulty levels, so although this is not what I had planned, it works for an intermediate nail design.
The polish, Let Your Hair Down (pictured first), is from the Unlock The Spell set by Beautifully Disney.
Polish Used:
- Beautifully Disney Unlock the Spell - Let Your Hair Down
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Deep Purple
- Base and top coats
- Acrylic paint - yellow, red, and white
- Nail art brush
- Makeup sponge
I LOVE the gradient on this nail! As mentioned above, it was going to be the background to the lantern scene, so I paired the Beautifully Disney polish with a dark purple for a sunset gradient look. To create this look:
- Apply the pink base color using Let Your Hair Down.
- Use a wet makeup sponge to create the gradient with Let Your Hair Down and Deep Purple.
- Use acrylic paint and a nail art brush to paint a yellow lantern on the middle finger. Use some orange for shading and to paint the sun on the lantern.
