Part Of Your World

Little Mermaid Nail Art

"I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty.  I've got whozits and whatzits galore."  This song could be about my nail art collection, but it is from "Part of Your World," from The Little Mermaid.  Here is the fifth installment in my Disney series.

The polish, Ocean Mist (pictured first), is from the Wickedly Beautiful set by Beautifully Disney.

Beautifully Disney Nail Polish

Little Mermaid Nail Polish
Since the glitter green polish looks like Ariel's tail, I wanted to paint her on the feature nail.  I chose the scene where she is sitting on the rock because the silhouette lets you get away with less detail.  For the other green nails, I stamped scales in gold to make them look more like a mermaid tail.  Again, the gold stamping is subtle so it doesn't overpower the polish or the look.  To tie in the gold seashell from the top of the bottle, I added some gold seashell studs to the middle finger.

Polish Used:
  • Beautifully Disney Wickedly Beautiful - Ocean Mist
  • Ulta - Moody Blues
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Liquid Gold
  • Base and top coats
Other Supplies:
  • Acrylic paint - yellow, black, purple, green, and red
  • Nail art brush
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-502 (scales)
  • Rubber stamper
  • 3mm and 5mm gold seashell studs

I used acrylic paint again for this look, but if you are a master with polish, go with that.  To create this look:
  1. Apply the base colors - ring finger in Moody Blues, and the rest in Ocean Mist.

  2. Paint Ariel on the ring finger.
    • Paint a purple gradient across the middle of the nail.
    • Add a yellow moon.
    • Paint the moon's reflection in the water with yellow.
    • Paint the rock, Ariel's silhouette, and the rock's reflection in the water.
    • Add purple highlights to the rock, red highlights to Ariel's hair, and green highlights to her tail.
