As I promised in my tropical summer palm trees post, I've done another palm tree nail, but with neon colors. This month's #iHeartNailArt contest theme by Sally Hansen is "Electric Summer." If you haven't noticed, I'm a huge fan of tropical nails for the summer. So, for my take on the theme, I did a neon gradient nail with palm trees, another bright feature nail, and then slightly more neutral embellished nails, so the neon really stands out. #nailart
The contest runs until the end of the month. If you like my nails, please vote for me! I really appreciate it.
In other news, I suffered a nail travesty...the dreaded broken nail. Luckily it wasn't too bad and just the corner broke. So, I had to change the shape of my nail to a little more oval. I actually like it.
- Sinful Colors - Neon Melon
- Maybelline Color Show - Pink Shock
- Jesse's Girl - purple/pink (color not on the bottle)
- Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Bluebell
- Ulta - Oh!
- Wet N Wild - Black Crème
- Gold metal shell studs
- Make-up sponge
- Nail brush
- Base and top coats
This mani is perfect for any summer pool party. Here's how to create this look:
- Apply the base colors. Index and pinky in Oh!, middle in Neon Melon, and ring in Pink Shock.
- Paint the gradient nail. When painting gradients, it is best to paint your nail the lightest color of the gradient. On a piece of wax paper, paint two stripes of the polish for the gradient. I'm using Neon Melon and Pink Shock. Using a toothpick, swirl the two lines of polish together. A narrow swirl section has a smaller gradient, whereas a large swirl section has a larger gradient. Using a make-up sponge, dab the polish, then dab it on the nail. You may have to dab in a forward and back motion to enhance the gradient. If you need more polish, repeat the process.
- For the ring finger, use a piece of tape to section off a small portion of the side of the nail. Then paint it in with the purple/pink polish and the holo glitter.
- Add a gold metal shell stud to the base of the orange nails and seal on with top coat.
