Summer calls for a tropical paradise. My mom is from Maui, so growing up, every summer we would go to Hawaii to visit my grandma. We'd eat fresh pineapple, shave ice, and Maui hotdogs. I didn't go to Maui this summer, so I painted a pineapple inspired mani instead. It's definitely not the same as actually going to Hawaii, but the summery feel still brings a smile to my face. #nailart
- Sally Hansen Nail Color - Seanic
- Ulta - Sun-Sational
- Wet N Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - Sunny Side Up
- Other polish - teal, green, and dark green
- Nail tape
- Nail brush
- Base and top coats
If you want to cut down on the amount of coats of glitter polish you need, you can paint a similar teal color under it first. That's what I did. But if you don't have one, just layer on the glitter polish and you'll be fine. Here's how to create this look:
- Apple the base colors. Paint the ring finger yellow and the rest using Seanic by Sally Hansen. The glittery teal color reminds me of the ocean and is very tropical.
- Paint the pineapple. Using yellow polish and a nail brush, paint an oval to represent the pineapple. Then, use orange polish to paint shading and the crisscross design of the pineapple. Use a lighter green polish to paint the stem coming out of the pineapple. Then, paint a few shadow lines with a darker green.
- On the yellow nail, paint a yellow and orange gradient using a make-up sponge. Once dry, apply nail tape in a crisscross pattern. I chose a crisscross pattern to match the pattern on a pineapple. Then coat with a teal polish and Seanic and remove the tape.
