You are probably wondering why these nails are "triumphantly" teal. Well, that's because these nails won a contest with InStyle Magazine! For InStyle's April 2014 issue, they had a #sayitwithcolor contest where readers could submit pictures on Instagram showing how color inspires their wardrobe, look, and life. Each week had a different color theme, and the senior marketing editor chose five winners for each color. I entered this mani and won for the green week! #nailart
This was the first nail related contest I'd won, so I was so excited when I got the congratulatory comment from InStyle on my Instagram photo. It was a total surprise.
Soon after, I got my prize in the mail! Each week had a different prize. The prize for green week was the book, Emerald, by Thames & Hudson. It is a book about, you guessed it, emeralds. It goes well with my collection of coffee table books, and is a good conversation piece. Thanks InStyle!
Polish Used:
- Icing - Marine Blue
- Orly - Luxe
- Sinful Colors - Bombshell
- Bundle Monster nail plate BM-410
- Gold nail tape
- Base and top coats
This is a very simple mani, perfect for any nail art beginner. Here's how to create the look:
- Apply the base color. I'm using Marine Blue. I thought the nail stamp image looked like fish bones, so I picked ocean colors.
- Stamp the index finger using the nail plate and Luxe.
- Apply two strips of gold nail tape to the middle finger in a diagonal "X" pattern.
- Apply one coat of Bombshell to the ring finger. The polish has teal/aqua micro glitter, mixed with larger rainbow glitter.
