Bear Down

University of Arizona Nail Art

Bear down, Arizona!  Bear down, red and blue!  Go, go, Wildcats go!  Arizona, bear down!  :)  These red, white, and blue nails are in honor of my alma mater, the University of Arizona.

As a collector of degrees, I've been to three different colleges.  I went to University of Arizona for my bachelors degree.  It was my first college, so it will always be my favorite and the one I feel the strongest allegiance to.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild - Red Red
  • Wet n Wild Fergie - No Place Like Home
  • Ulta - Denim Glitz
  • Sally Hansen Crackle - Snow Blast
  • Wet n Wild - French White Crème
Other Supplies:
  • Nail tape
  • Tear drop nail vinyls
  • Various crystals and studs
  • "A" decal
  • Base and top coats

For the Arizona "A" decal, if you don't have an actual decal, you can make one.  I cut the one I used out of an old flyer for the basketball game schedule.  As long as the paper has a shiny surface like a magazine, you can use it.  Here's how to create the look:
    Teardrop Vinyl
  1. Apply the base colors - thumb and middle in white, index and pinky in red, and ring in blue.
  2. Thumb: While white polish is still wet, apply the "A" cutout, then seal with top coat.
  3. Index: Apply a coat for No Place Like Home to add some sparkle.  Then using the tear drop vinyls, create a white and a blue section on the tip.
  4. Middle: Add a strip of red, silver, and blue nail tape at different angles.
  5. Ring: Apply various red, white, blue, and silver studs and crystals to cover the entire nail.
  6. Pinky: Apply a coat of white crackle polish.
