Holo Me

Holo Me

For my final entry for Nail It! Magazine's #TiniContest Round 1, I have a simple black nail with holo triangle stickers.

Nail It! Mood Board
For this first round of challenges, I have created an iridescent blue nail and a glacier inspired nail, so now I chose to do a silver holo nail based on the shoe in the bottom right of the mood board.

This is a really simple design, but is really flashy with the holo stickers.  It looks more impressive in person when you can really see the rainbows well.  You can pretty much use any type of holo sticker you can find.  I had strips of stickers on hand that are used for making your own fishing lures.

If the black polish looks to rocker-ish for you, this would also look stunning in white.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Wet n Wild - Black Crème
Other Supplies:
  • Holo stickers
  • Scissors
  • Base and top coats

Before you start, cut the holo stickers into triangles.  They will need to be wide enough to reach near the edges of your nails, and then just tall enough that they leave a small black tip.  Here's how to create the look:
  1. Apply a black base color.
  2. Working one nail at a time, peel and stick the triangle so the tip is at the middle base of the nail, make sure it is straight, and then press firmly on the nail.  Make sure all the edges are in contact with the nail, and coat with top coat.

That's it!  Just two easy steps.  Be sure to use a few coats of top coat so the edges of the stickers don't come up.
