Dip Into Dots

Gradient dot nail art

Proenza Schouler clutch
This look is inspired by the Proenza Schouler clutch.  I love the color gradient and studs, so I decided to recreate the look on my nails.

Mine is a bit brighter since my "darker" green wasn't that dark.  This is also the first time I've attempted a gradient with more than two colors, so the gradient didn't turn out as smooth as I would have liked.  I'll have to practice with this a little more.  Here, I used four colors to create the green/blue gradient with blue studs.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Green With Envy
  • Sally Hansen Triple Shine - Kelp Out
  • Piggy Polish - Polar Sea Ice
  • Ulta - Moody Blues

Other Supplies:
  • 2mm round blue studs
  • Makeup sponge

To create this look:
  1. Apply a white base color.  This will make the colors pop more.

  2. Wet a makeup sponge, and paint the polish in stripes in the order of the gradient.

  3. Dab the sponge on each nail, reapplying the polish in between each nail.  Each nail will probably take two coats.  I dabbed on more of the dark blue so it would be darker.

  4. Apply three lines of 2mm round blue studs to the ring finger.
