Gotham

Gotham City Nail Art

I've been wanting to do a "bat signal" mani for a while, so the premiere of Gotham seemed like the perfect time.  The city scene is stamped using the reverse stamping method so the windows could be lit up.

I'm interested to see how this new show, Gotham, does.  It is a different idea to show Gotham city before Batman came into the picture.  I'll definitely be watching tonight with my matching nail art.

Nail Polish

Polish Used:
  • Love & Beauty - Blue
  • Bundle Monster Stamping Lacquer - Black Noir
  • Wet n Wild - French White Crème
Other Supplies:
  • Batman fimo cane
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-414 (city scene)
  • Rubber stamper
  • Razor
  • Nail art brush
  • Dotting tool
  • Base and top coats

Before you start, use a razor to cut a thin slice of the fimo cane.  The thinner the better because then it won't stick out as much, and it will bend better to the curve of the nail.  To create this look:
  1. Apply a blue base coat.  You want the blue dark enough to look like a nighttime comic book scene, but not so dark that you can't see the black stamping.

  2. Use the reverse stamping method (see the stamping tab above) to stamp the city scene (BM-414) in black, and use a dotting tool and white polish to fill in the windows of the skyscrapers.

  3. Glue the fimo slice onto the middle finger.
  4. Use a nail art brush and white polish to create the light stream between the fimo slice, aka the bat signal, and the point of origin.

  5. Seal everything with top coat.
