Shark Shiver

Shark Nail Art

A group of sharks is called a shiver of sharks.  I used the shark and choppy water designs from the +Bundle Monster Sun Kissed Collection to create this shark infested look.  I sectioned off part of the water design with chain, to represent the chainmail that is needed for swimming with sharks.

I received the 2mm gold meta chain from Born Pretty Store in exchange for an honest review.  The chain is 100cm long, so there is a lot to play around with.  The chain is fairly easy to apply.  I just glued it on with Krazy Glue, covered it with some top coat, and it is pretty secure.  You'll need some wire cutters to cut the chain to the desired length, but it is really easy to do.  The size of the links are great because they are large enough to look like a nice chain, but not overly bulky.  Overall, I really like them.  Now my only problem is thinking of more creative ways to use it.  To buy this chain or other nail art, use coupon code GHLQ10 for 10% off you entire purchase.

Nail Polish
Polish Used:
  • Sally Hansen Triple Shine - Dive In
  • OPI - Dazzle Me
  • Bundle Monster - Angelic White
Other Supplies:
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-502 (choppy water)
  • Bundle Monster stamping plate - BM-503(sharks)
  • Rubber stamper
  • 2mm gold metal chain
  • Masking tape
  • Krazy Glue
  • Wire cutters
  • Base and top coats

This nail design is pretty easy.  The hardest part will be gluing on the chain, and that isn't very difficult.  To create this look:
  1. Paint the base color in Dive In.  It is a nice aqua blue from Sally Hansen.

  2. Apply one coat of Dazzle Me by OPI on the ring finger.  This will add some shimmer to the nail.

  3. Use masking tape to section off a triangle of the middle finger.

  4. Use white polish to stamp the choppy water (BM-502) over the exposed section of the nail.
    Stamp over taped section
  5. Remove the tape.

  6. Use whit polish to stamp the sharks (BM-503) on the remaining nails.

  7. Apply the gold chain with some Krazy Glue.  You can either glue the chain on first, and then cut off the excess, or cut a small piece of chain before gluing.  I glued first, because I find it hard to estimate how much chain I need exactly.  If you want the chain to stay on longer, apply a coat of clear top coat to secure it on.
